Overview

What Satle is

Satle is a daily geography guessing game with a Wordle-like structure, but instead of words you identify cities from satellite imagery. Each day presents a satellite image of an unknown city, and your goal is to name that city within 6 guesses. Every incorrect guess gives you two kinds of help: the satellite image zooms out further, revealing more of the surrounding region, and the game shows the direction and distance from your guess to the correct city. Guesses are made by picking a city and country from an autofill list of valid cities, and you can share your results once the round is over.

Getting started

How to play

Look at the satellite image of the unknown city and study any visible features. Pick a city and country from the autofill list to submit a guess. If the guess is wrong, the image zooms out to show a wider area, and the direction and distance to the correct city are displayed. Use these clues to narrow down the region and guess again; you have 6 tries in total. You can click any previous guess to view the zoomed-in image shown at that stage. Once you identify the city — or run out of tries — you can share your results. A new puzzle is available each day.

Practical help

Tips

  1. Use the direction and distance feedback after each wrong guess to narrow the search region before your next pick.
  2. If the first zoomed-in image is too close to identify landmarks, wrong guesses zoom the view out further, revealing more context.
  3. Click earlier guesses to revisit their zoomed-in images if you want another look at details you noticed before.
